broadband
what is broadband?
Broadband is basically a method of transmitting large amounts of data, voice & video at high speed over various communication mediums; e.g. normal telephone line, fibre optic, etc... We are specifically interested in ADSL, ADSL Max, ADSL2, ADSL2+, SDSL; & Leased-Line. Here is a short explanation of the different types.
broadband service
We can supply & optimally configure broadband ADSL & its variants when available, & SDSL & Leased-Line. A full installation will normally consist of the supply & correct configuration of a router & firewall to ensure your network's security. This can be managed remotely, once installed. We even fit a special ADSL/phone port which allows all your phones & fax machines to work without extra microfilters.
- Free UK domain with unlimited e-mail addresses & web space.
- Multiple static IP addresses.
- Constant line monitoring & proactive fault reporting.
- Multiple line service for high performance & resilience.
- Uplink bonding & tunnelling - bond up to four ADSL lines together to increase both up-link & downlink bandwidth.
- Closed User Groups (CUG) - connect head office & branch offices together to enable traffic to flow between them. Can be run in restricted mode whereby offices can be denied access to other networks; i.e. the Internet is denied. Normally head office runs unrestricted & all branch offices in restricted mode. This will allow head office to provide proxy &/or e-mail gateway. It is a very secure method of connection allowing the branch offices to run without firewalls.
