managed service

what is a managed service?

Managed Services or Managed Service Providers (MSP) usually provide services to business in the form of office space of various sizes within the same building or near vicinity, complete with centrally provided services - manned reception; meeting rooms; telephony services; etc... Companies who tend to use this type of office space are also likely to have a requirement for a centrally provided network & Internet service. The model for this specialist managed service can also be implemented within apartment blocks, housing developments; etc... where it would be an additional pooled service, much like the communal aerial or satellite dish.

the detail

Starting with a conventional wired/wireless network to the internal offices it is possible to get one fast ADSL or SDSL Internet feed & then, with the appliance of science, subdivide this into smaller amounts of bandwidth. Each tenant can then either be charged by usage, or more likely purchase multiples of bandwidth. Each individual tenant's data is private to that tenant, the data being kept separate within its own private virtual network. Because of the bursty nature of how we use the Internet - data networks are never in constant use, data is sent in bursts - it is possible to oversubscribe this type of service, much like the contention ratio of ADSL.

It is also possible to provide rack space for each businesses' server, or to co-locate the servers off-site in a secure managed environment.

who would consider a managed service?

Anyone who requires a pooled service such as commercial/private landlords & property developers, or you may already have an office suite with more space than you require & wish to rent out an existing office or floor & offer a managed service to the tenant. Why not consider offering this service to your existing tenants or costing it into your next purchase, build or renovation project? We are confident that it will be a valued added & cost effective benefit.
